National Disability Survey

Person in wheelchair playing bowlsIn August 2014, the Bowls Development Alliance launched the first nationwide survey regarding disabled participation in bowls to develop a greater understanding of the current and future opportunities that exist for disabled bowlers and which clubs currently have disabled bowlers using their facilities. The 2014 survey saw 243 clubs which resulted in valuable insight that proved crucial when developing the National Disability Strategic Action Plan as well as in guiding clubs and organisations to create more opportunities for disabled bowlers to take part in our sport.

In October 2014, the Bowls Development Alliance published the inaugural National Disability Survey Report that summaries the key findings of the 2014 survey. The report also made five key recommendations based on the findings that will ensure progress can continue to be made and that bowls can become a truly inclusive and accessible sport.

Due to the success of the 2014 Survey, the BDA announced on the 2nd August the launch of the 2015 National Disability Survey. Those taking part in the survey had an opportunity to enter a prize draw where the winner will receive a blue Ultraglide DX Bowls Bag, courtesy of AeroBowls. The National Disability Survey 2015 Report was released on the 22nd December, 2015.Player and coach
