Sport England Review of the Clubmark Accreditation Scheme

We have received notification from Sport England that, as of November 2019, the Clubmark accreditation scheme will be coming to end.

The scheme has brought about a significant improvement in standards across the community sports sector. In part due to Clubmark’s success, there are elements of the existing scheme (e.g. safeguarding/duty of care and governance) which were positioned as ‘best practice’ at its creation but are now deemed to be essential aspects of any club’s operations.

In order to continue to promote club development, a new ‘Health Check’ tool will be launched in December 2019 on the Club Matters platform. The new tool will offer bespoke support depending on the club’s size and needs and will guide clubs through different stages of their development. Furthermore, Club Matters will continue to provide resources, tools and new content to support the development of your club and keep you up to date!

For those clubs that already have Clubmark, your accreditation will remain valid until it expires. It will continue to be acknowledged and a toolkit is being prepared to help you maintain the standards that Clubmark has promoted.

For those clubs that are interested in becoming accredited you need to express an interest via the Clubmark website by the 2nd August at the latest and be prepared to complete the process by mid- November.
