The Bowls Development Alliance (BDA) was established in 2010 by the four Bowls National Governing Bodies, in conjunction with Sport England, to work across the codes to develop the game, invest government funding effectively and to inspire people to participate in the Sport.
With over 5,000 clubs across the country, bowls is a popular sport with low barriers to entry and opportunities to participate throughout the year. It is a sport that people of all ages and abilities can actively enjoy recreationally through to elite competition.
The organisation is now entering a period of exciting change as it looks towards the future and developing the sport with a new BDA strategy and vision;
‘To place bowls at the heart of every community as an accessible sport for all.’
The BDA is seeking to recruit for an individual with purpose, passion, and integrity and a proven track record in successful sports governance to work as a key member of the BDA leadership team. This role is a unique opportunity to play an important part in supporting the aims and objectives of the Bowls Development Alliance and the development of a new strategic plan for Bowls, in close partnership with the National Governing Bodies and key partners. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a small but very passionate team, supporting both the business operations and upholding the highest standards required of a tier 3 organisation.
The ideal candidate will have experience working in a cross-matrix environment as well as show evidence of strong financial acumen, strategy development and delivering against set targets. With a strong background in Governance, preferably within a National Governing Body or sports organisation, the successful applicant will also have the flexibility to support across several key business functions, including safeguarding, club development and EDI.
The candidate should be a people person and a team player, with the ability to work effectively with the organisation Chair and BDA Board, to support the continuation of a strong progressive partnership with key stakeholders. A good understanding of the sporting landscape would be an advantage.
