Position: Safeguarding Officer
Hours: 2 days per week P/T role (14 hours)
Salary: £10,000 (£25,000 FTE)
Location: BDA Head Office in Melton Mowbray but flexible working arrangements can be considered. National travel may also be required on occasion.
Contract: The job is offered on a fixed term basis until 31st March 2022 and is subject to annual confirmation of funding award thereafter.
The Bowls Development Alliance (BDA) was established in 2010 by the four Bowls National Governing Bodies, in conjunction with Sport England, to work across the codes to develop the game, invest government funding effectively and to inspire people to participate in the Sport.
The organisation is now entering a period of exciting change as it looks towards the future and developing the sport with a new BDA strategy and vision;

With over 5,000 clubs across the sport, we believe that Bowls has something unique to offer everyone in our society regardless of gender, background, age or ability and we want to take the necessary steps to ensure that everyone in our community can access suitable and safe opportunities to participate. The BDA is seeking an enthusiastic, motivated and highly organised Safeguarding Officer to help support the National Governing Bodies (NGB) Safeguarding leads drive the standards of Safeguarding across the sport.
This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference to the core of the sport by supporting and working with the NGB Safeguarding leads, helping to bring the importance of safeguarding to life amongst our clubs and volunteer networks.
Applicants will be expected to have a good knowledge of legislation, government guidance and national frameworks for safeguarding both children and adults at risk. You will need to be a people person with the ability to work alongside and support key personal and volunteers. Candidates will need to demonstrate a good understanding of the sporting and safeguarding landscape. Knowledge of bowls would be an advantage but is not essential.
